Abstract

Lampung Province's NTP in January 2012 for each subsector was recorded at 134.70 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 112.43 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 125.10 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 104.91 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 114.25 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 124.58.

The increase in prices in the food crop sub-sector, such as the price of grain and cassava, caused Lampung's NTP to increase by 0.68 percent and was driven by the increase in prices of fruit and vegetables.

Compared with December 2011, it can be seen that three NTP sub-sectors experienced an increase, namely the food crops sub-sector which rose 0.80 percent, the horticultural crops sub-sector rose 1.39 percent, the smallholder plantation crops sub-sector rose 0.48 percent. Meanwhile, sub-sectors experienced a decline, namely the livestock sub-sector which fell 0.26 percent and the fisheries sub-sector fell 0.37 percent.

Of the 32 provinces, 10 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 22 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The highest increase in NTP occurred in Banten Province, namely 1.05 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.53 percent, while the price received by farmers increased by 1.59 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in West Kalimantan Province, which fell by 1.46 percent, because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.97 percent while the price received by farmers actually fell by 0.50 percent.

January 2012 saw inflation in rural areas in Lampung Province amounting to 0.17 percent. Inflation in rural areas was mainly caused by an increase in the price index for the foodstuffs and housing group, as well as an increase in the index for other groups except for the education, recreation and sports group which did not experience changes.
