City of Bandar Lampung in August 2019 Inflation of 0.12 Percent

August 2019, Bandar Lampung City experienced inflation of 0.12 percent due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 139.38 in July 2019 to 139.55 in August 2019. Of the seven expenditure groups, only three groups experienced inflation or an increase the index in the city of Bandar Lampung, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group 0.72 percent; clothing group 0.59 percent; and health groups 1.00 percent. On the other hand, four other groups experienced deflation or decreased indexes, namely the foodstuffs group of 0.13 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.05 percent; the education, recreation and sports group 0.01 percent, and the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.15 percent.

The contribution of the general expenditure group in the formation of inflation in August 2019 was 0.12 percent. Three expenditure groups namely, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group contributed to the formation of inflation by 0.13 percent; clothing group 0.03 percent; and the 0.05 percent health group. Conversely, the group that contributed to the formation of deflation (decrease in index), namely, the foodstuffs group of 0.05 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.02 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the education, recreation and sports groups did not contribute to the formation of inflation or deflation.
